Case Details
Joel, of Lansdowne, Delaware County, was last seen at around 2am on Friday, October 30, 2009. He and a friend had launched Joel's pleasure boat from under the Commodore Barry Bridge into the Delaware River. They were on the water for only 5 minutes or so when the engine stalled and the boat started taking on water.
The friend was able to swim back to the sea wall near the former Chester Electric property. Joel had remained on the boat He was not wearing a life jacket.
The boat was found several hours later on the banks of the river near the Delaware Fox Point State in Wilmington, DE, about 7.21 miles south of the Commodore Barry Bridge.
Despite multiple intensive searches, Joel's body has not been found. He is presumed to have drowned.
